On February 21st and 22nd 2007, seminars entitled “Modern Methods of Organisation Management” and “Theory and Practice of Human Resources Development” were organised as part of the project “Specialist Help for Slovak Regional Water Companies”. The seminars took place in the Holiday Inn hotel in Žilina

Seminar “Modern methods of Organisation Management” (21.2.2007)

The aim of the seminar was to introduce the participants to the basics of the modern management of a company and thus increase their specialist capacity in various areas of organisation management such as, for example, the introduction of process management in practice and planning and calculating costs. The seminar was devoted to three basic areas as part of the problem areas of company management:

  • Process management,
  • Performance management of an organisation,
  • Methods for lowering costs in organisations.

During the discussion, the water companies confirmed their interest in the implementation of process management to improve the organisational structure and make more efficient the activities of the companies’ management.
The seminar was attended by 32 participants.

Seminar “Theory and Practice of Human Resources Development”   (22.2.2007)

The seminar was focused on new methods in human resources management with a view of increasing employee performance.Subjects from the area of human resources management can be divided in a simplified way into the following groups:

  • Policy and strategy in the area of human resources management,
  • Remuneration system and performance.

In the course of the seminar, an intensive discussion was started between the lecturers and the seminar participants. Among the most discussed subjects was the subject of remuneration, where it has to be said that the subject of remuneration is above all strongly influenced by regulatory policy in the water sector and as such is very specific.
These discussions were of great benefit to the members of the S&K Management systems project team, mainly from the point of view of the demands of the water company representatives. During the seminar, there was interest from the water companies once more on specific output that could be directly used in practice.
The seminar was attended by 29 participants.
