In 2006, we organised a specialist presentation entitled “Performance Management in Organisations” in Bratislava and Banská Bystrica.
Performance management in an organisation represents a self-contained, mutually connected set of indicators of organisation performance which are of a financial, qualitative or deadline nature.
The main aim of the presentation was to provide participants with information on the possibilities of measuring and managing organisation performance by using the best known, most used and most tried and tested methods (MBO, Performance Measurement and Balanced Scorecard).
The presentation was aimed at participants who:
- have introduced a system of costs and investment controlling and want to move even further forward,
- want to actively manage the organisation’s performance based on advance KPI,
- are having problems meeting strategic targets in the managed organisation,
- are losing their view in the quantity of information generated by various information systems.
What are the main benefits stemming from the introduction of one of the systems of performance management in an organisation?
System of performance management in an organisation:
- it focuses managers’ attention on essential affairs concerned with the management of an organisation,
- it is an effective tool for implementing strategic targets aimed at the inside of an organisation; a direct relationship is created between those who come up with a strategy and those who carry it out in practice,
- it points out threats to meeting the organisation’s targets, reveals the causes of problems, helps find solutions,
- it places emphasis on advance indicators, i.e. indicators which indicate the future development of the organisation, both in a positive and negative direction,
- is closely linked with the variable element within the manager and key employee bonus system, and thus has a direct impact on the motivation of managers at all management levels.
