Quality in Self-Government 2007

 

 

2nd Seminar


The aim of the second year of the seminar “Quality in Self-Government 2007” (7.6.2007) was to present to representatives of self-government various approaches to the quality management of public services, to present the benefits of individual approaches in order for seminar participants to be able to assess the difficulty and benefits of implementing the chosen system of quality management.

Further, to identify current trends in managing and increasing quality in self-government, the use of benchmarking in the assessment of the process of institutions of self-government, the activities of town halls, the quality and costs of individual institutions. Another of the seminar’s important goals is to initiate and expand a project in Slovakia – Benchmarking Initiatives of Towns – of long-term benchmarking of the costs, quality and efficiency of self-government processes with the participation of specialist parties and partners.

All the mayors and regional self-government presidents of the Slovak Republic were invited to the seminar, as well as the highest representatives of territorial and local self-government.

  

The event took place under the patronage of the mandatory of the government of the SR for territorial self-government, Ján Turčan.

 

  

The seminar was composed of two parts:

  

1. Specialist part – specialists from various areas of self-government made presentations and participants found out interesting information on projects carried out as part of the Benchmarking Initiative of Towns and Benchmarking of Primary Schools. There was the opportunity to see demonstrations of Benchmarking software applications.  Thematically, the seminar is focused on the presentation of several approaches to quality management in self-government: models of exception EFQM and CAF, quality management according to ISO standards, Benchmarking, Healthy Town projects.

    

2.  Evening part – combined with a reception and social programme, an informal meeting with the mandatory of the government of the SR for territorial self-government Ing. Ján Turčan as well as a discussion on Benchmarking.
