March 22nd – World Day of Water
In 1992, the General Assembly of the UN declared March 22nd the World Day of Water. At its 47th meeting, it thus approved the resolution A/res/47/193 of 22 February 1993. The world day of water is celebrated according to the recommendations of the UN Conference on the Environment and Development, which are contained in chapter 18 (Protection of the quality and reserves of freshwater resources) of Agenda 21.
